New webpage for the Erg-a-thon, and newer (much improved) method for online giving!

Click here and head to the new Erg-a-thon webpage and online donation form!

We're on day 3 since the letters went out, and we've received over $2,000 in donations already!  Contact your donors and make sure they're looking for the letter - we're on a mission to raise $30,000!

Thank you for your efforts - these donations are important!  We're paying off a new coaching & safety launch that we brought in this February, a new set of oars for the varsity women - and have a laundry list of equipment to tackle.  These funds also ensure that every rower who wants to row @ PRC has the opportunity to - help us get there!

Detailed information on the Upcoming Ergathon

The Pocock Rowing Center ErgAThon!

The Ergathon is coming!  Scheduled for March 10, our rowers will attempt to enter the record books and finally hit our goal of rowing 1,000,000 meters in a day!  Every rower on the PRC team will row for at least one hour to help the team achieve the goal.

The rowers participate in the Ergathon challenge as a way to demonstrate their commitment to the sport and the Pocock Rowing Center.  We're hoping the Ergathon inspires others to support our team.

Each rower will be asked to send out letters (at least 15) to friends, family, businesses, and anyone else who might support the Ergathon effort with a donation. The letter will detail the event, and provide an easy method for supporting the Center and our goal to be the best club in the country.

Donations can range from $1,000 (wow!) to $5, and our effort last year brought in almost $30,000!

The funds we bring in this year will result in 1) a new coaching launch for the team, 2) support our scholarship fund and ensure that everyone who wants to row at PRC will row at PRC, and 3) get the rowers all of the oars they need for daily practices!

How does this work?

1.         Each rower will bring in a list of names and addresses from home – at least 15! Anyone who would like the chance to support rowing at the Center!
2.         On Thursday, March 1st the team will spend most of their practice day putting their letters together to mail.
3.         On March 10, the team will gather at the Whole Foods in Interbay to put in the work and keep the ergs moving for 8 hours!
4.         Donations roll in…hopefully for 3-4 weeks.
5.         The Center will send home a packet of thank you notes for your rower to send to their donors.

The kids commit to 1 million meters; donors recognize that commitment and do what the rowers can’t – write checks. This is a great opportunity to support what the athletes do at the Center.

Donors can also give online (information available soon)!

Any questions, please shoot the PRC office a call!

Pocock Updates

Hello Pocock Parents!

You should have all received an evite invitation to our Pocock Junior Parent Social.
If you did not, please check your junk mail or respond back to me and I will send you another.  The party is March 10th and will be at the home of Jill and Geoff Wood.  We need rsvps so we have enough food and drink for you all !! J

Also, on March 10th is our ergathon.  I will send out a separate email about this but just know your kids are expected to participate sometime during the day on March 10.

A few reminders:

1.        Please make sure your rower is properly attired for afternoon practice.  While it is chilly, a performance fabric long sleeve shirt is important – no cotton please!  JL clothing on Stoneway sells rowing long sleeves but any athletic long sleeve will do.  Also, wool socks are nice as are long spandex.

2.       Do not double park on  Fuhrman outside the boathouse.  Please park legally on the street and wait for your rower or park in the parking lot and have your rower meet you in the parking lot or you may come into the boathouse and get your rower.  Please remember there are 100 kids getting picked up at the same time so please use an abundance of caution when picking up, driving through the parking lot etc. Thank you!

3.       Please pay your registration fees if you have not done so yet.

4.       Please remember to order those passports for your rowers if he/she is 16 or older.  We need this for Brentwood regatta.  The kids under 16 need their birth certificate.

Okay, I think that is it for now.  Email me back with questions or if you did not get your invitation to our Parent Social.

Go Pocock!
